چکیده
The cultivation of the Mediterranean mussel, Mytilus galloprovincialis Lamarck, 1819, has been tested in an innovative Integrated Multitrophic Aquaculture system (IMTA) Mar Grande Taranto, as part EU-funded Remedialife project. This farming method could solve several problems including low growth rate mesotrophic environments while reducing environmental impact fish mariculture. Three productive cycles have carried out. first (2018–2019, traditional experiment) was conducted three long lines around six cages farm order to evaluate total mussel production under IMTA and quality for human consumption by analyzing concentration culturable heterotrophic bacteria, fecal coliforms, Escherichia coli Salmonella spp. tissues. In addition, 17 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), 16 EPA priority compounds seven polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), which are indicators PCB contamination environment, were analyzed using gas chromatography conjunction with a mass spectrometer. second cycle (2020–2021, horizontal distance aimed test influence on placing mussels near far from cages. third (2021–2022, vertical overcome phenomenon “heat waves” that can occur Taranto during summer testing performance at two different depths (1 12 m). following parameters measured: Shell Length, L (mm); Dry Weight, SDW (g); Flesh FDW Condition Index, IC = FDW/SDW. results showed best obtained depth m. Moreover, microbial concentrations chemical tissues cultured compliance reference values European regulations.

متن کاملScope for growth of Mytilus galloprovincialis (Lmk., 1819) in oligotrophic coastal waters (Southern Tyrrhenian Sea, Italy)
The ‘scope for growth’ (SFG) tool was used to study the growth performance of cultivated populations of Mytilus galloprovincialis (Lmk., 1819) in an oligotrophic area of the Southern Mediterranean Sea. The study was carried out between 1993 and 1996 by using data from four seasonal oceanographic cruises and from growth experiments. Water samples were collected and analysed for total suspended m...
متن کاملLarval metamorphosis of the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis Lamarck, 1819 in response to neurotransmitter blockers and tetraethylammonium.
The metamorphic response of pediveliger larvae of Mytilus galloprovincialis to the neurotransmitter blockers chlorpromazine, amitriptyline, rauwolscine, idazoxan, atenolol and butoxamine, and to tetraethylammonium chloride (TEA) was investigated through a series of bioassays. Chlorpromazine, amitriptyline and idazoxin inhibited larval metamorphosis induced by 10⁻⁴ M epinephrine. The concentrati...

The present study aimed to improve the knowledge of the bivalve Pinna nobilis L. population distribution in Mar Grande of Taranto (Ionian Sea). Although historical references report the local abundant presence of this endangered species, there is a lack of updated information about its exact distribution. For this purpose, a visual census of P. nobilis was performed by SCUBA diving in the Mar G...

The Mar Piccolo basin is an internal sea basin located along the Ionian coast (Southern Italy), and it is surrounded primarily by fractured carbonate karstic environment. Because of the karstic features, the main continental water inflow is from groundwater discharge. The Mar Piccolo basin represents a peculiar and sensitive environment and a social emergency because of sea water and sediment p...
